FAQs

What does a first session look like?

The first session is an opportunity to get to know each other, discuss your goals, and understand your history and current challenges. We will review confidentiality, the therapeutic process, and any questions you may have. It’s a space to feel heard and safe, and to explore what’s bringing you to therapy now.

Can I use my insurance with your psychotherapy services?

Yes, most extended health insurance plans cover psychotherapy with a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). I provide detailed invoices/receipts after each session that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Please check your individual plan for coverage limits.

How long is a session?

Sessions are typically 50-minutes, but I also offer 75-minute sessions and 100-minute sessions - depending on your needs and preferences.

How often should I come to therapy?

Frequency depends on your goals, availability, and the intensity of your current challenges. Many clients start with weekly sessions and adjust as progress is made.

Is psychotherapy confidential?

Yes. All sessions are confidential, in accordance with the CRPO and privacy legislation. Exceptions are rare and legally required (e.g., risk of harm to self or others).

What if I’m not sure therapy is right for me?

That’s completely normal! The first session is often a chance to explore your options, ask questions, and see if the fit feels right. There’s no pressure…therapy is most effective when you feel safe and understood.
